Rihanna gets a new henna-inspired tattoo to cover her old one
Rihanna has some new ink to show off, covering up that Maori-style tattoo on her right hand with a henna-style tattoo. Wait, didn't she have that first one put on traditionally in New Zealand, with a hammer and chisel dipped in ink? You'd think she'd keep it just for the story.
Bang Bang McCurdy and Cally-Jo of Bang Bang NYC tattoo parlor shared the whole story with E!, telling them "We drew on her hand from 7 p.m. to midnight. ... The inspiration was henna art; We wanted something really decorative, feminine and sexy. We thought that was the closest in style where we could shift and make it look decorative."
The pair took so long working on the design, Rihanna even feel asleep while they were trying designs. The result was posted on Bang Bang's Instagram Wednesday with the caption, "One more- before and after on @badgalriri .... @callyjoart and I spent hours and hours drawing on different designs, we finally found one that worked! So proud we made it pretty"
And what was the singer's verdict? "Ri flipped out! Absolutely loved it, loved it! It's a hard thing when you get a tattoo and not absolutely love it. It's uncomfortable to have something on your hand, especially when it's in such a visible spot, and she's such a visible person. Your hand is as closely related as your face. If you think about it, her hand is right there and the whole world is watching it." The tat is certainly more visible this way, that's for sure.
