Rob Lowe, Rashida Jones are leaving 'Parks & Recreation'
It came down to the wire whether NBC was even going to renew Parks & Recreation next season, but it did. Now comes the bad news: Both Rob Lowe and Rashida Jones will be leaving halfway through it. That is literally the worst entertainment news we've heard all day.
Showrunner Mike Schur confirmed the news to Buzzfeed, saying they'll be leaving Pawnee soon: "The news about Rob and Rashida is true — they will be leaving the show after the 13th episode of the upcoming season six," Schur wrote. "We’ve been working on their storyline (on and off) for four seasons now, and heading into this year, with the two of them contemplating parenthood, it felt like a natural time to move them into the next phase."
Lowe tweeted to Schur after the news broke, saying, "Thanks @KenTremendous It has literally been a world class pleasure. I'm sure Chris will take great care of... Ann Perkins!!"
Jones has work co-writing Celeste & Jesse Forever and has another TV development deal brewing. And you can't swing an energy smoothie without hitting something Lowe is working on.
We know the show will be able to keep on rolling (especially because the storylines are pretty crowded lately), but this is gonna hurt way more than when Paul Schneider's Mark Brendanawicz took off.
