'Sharknado' is chewing up a movie screen near you on Aug. 2
Forget waiting for SyFy to re-air Sharknado yet again so you can catch the Snakes on a Plane of 2013, because soon you'll be able to catch it on a big screen near you. Ian Ziering chainsawing through a Great White never looked so awesomely awful.
Regal Cinemas has announced it will be airing midnight shows of the Twitter-famous Asylum flick at about 200 theaters nationwide on Aug. 2, The Hollywood Reporter says. The theater chain says it's hoping to creat a Rocky Horror Picture Show-like carnival atmosphere, complete with ironic tweeting and Mystery Science Theater 3000-style derision. That'll get you good and primed for the New York-set sequel due in 2014
“There’s just something epic about watching these huge beasts on the big screen with your friends and family," Regal chief marketing officer Ken Thewes told THR. "The crowd reactions will make for a memorable experience in our theatres.”
In the Tampa Bay area, you can catch the feeding frenzy at Tampa's Regal Citrus Park Stadium 20, Pinellas Park's Regal Park Place Stadium 16 & RPX and even Sarasota's Regal Hollywood Stadium 20, if you want to make that drive (see a full list of theaters here). Expect to pay $12.50 for the privilege of learning Tara Reid is still alive.
