Shonda Rhimes gets a book deal to write memoir about being a single, working mom
Now that Shonda Rhimes has ditched Private Practice and only has to continue making Scandal and Grey's Anatomy, she has time for a side project. Like an autobiographical book, perhaps. Sure, why not?
TheWrap.com says Simon & Schuster have closed a deal with Rhimes to write a memoir about having a family before becoming a world-class writer of TV dramas that start of great and then slowly winnow down into dull procedurals with self-absorbed tropes for characters. But hey, she's making bank!
“Simon and Schuster is crazy for giving me a book deal as I am clearly in no position to be handing out wisdom,” Rhimes said. “But I have made a lot of mistakes as a single mother and as a working mother and as a sleepless mother and as a dating mother. And I did all of it while running a bunch of TV shows. So I’m going to write about that and hope my kids don’t use it against me in therapy later.”
Oh, is that why she's making Miranda Bailey crazy again? Or Olivia Pope practically bipolar, depending on whether she's around the president or not? Because we're sensing a theme here. We'll have to wait until the 2015 publishing date to find out.
