Simon Cowell to join 'America's Got Talent'
Stateside television just can’t rid itself of Simon Cowell.
American Idol’s once and former king is returning to dish out his signature tough criticism, this time on America’s Got Talent. Cowell is taking over for Howard Stern next season, Us Weekly reports.
“We’ve been talking about it for a few years, funny enough, me and NBC,” Cowell told the mag, adding that he was in talks with the peacock network five years ago but the gig didn’t pan out. “This year … everything worked. So it was perfect.”
Inquiring minds want to know just this one thing: Has becoming a dad softened up the 56-year-old?
“I’m not going to lie to people when I think they’re hopeless, I just couldn’t do that!” he said. “But no, of course I’m not going to be rude for the sake of being rude. That would be ridiculous. I’ll take it act by act.”
Stern stepped down because he doesn’t have time for his SiriusXM radio program, a new TV project and the variety show.
