Steven Spielberg signs on for 'BFG’
Well, this sounds like a BFD.
Steven Spielberg has confirmed he will direct the live action adaptation of the beloved Roald Dahl tale The BFG (that’s Big Friendly Giant).
According to Variety, Spielberg’s DreamWorks studios bought the rights in 2010, the plan being that John Madden (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) would direct. But, lucky for The BFG we thinks, Madden is busy with the Marigold sequel, so Spielberg hopped on board the celebrated children’s story train.
Melissa Mathison, who wrote the script for E.T., also wrote this screenplay. So, squee! The director’s latest project is set to be released in 2016.
