Target, Novo Nordisk are latest sponsors to dump Paula Deen
Another day, another lost sponsor for Paula Deen. This time it's Target and the drug manufacturer Novo Nordisk. But by all means, let's keep this shame train rolling down the track.
"Novo Nordisk and Paula Deen have mutually agreed to suspend our patient education activities for now, while she takes time to focus her attention where it is needed," the Victoza maker said in a statement, People reports. So, no more Type II diabetes medication for you!
Meanwhile, Target went the same route Wal-Mart did earlier this week, announcing in a statement, "We have made a decision to phase out the Paula Deen merchandise in our stores as well as on Target.com. Once the merchandise is sold out, we will not be replenishing inventory."
So far the sinking ship isn't literal, because the annual Paula Deen cruise is still on, and they've even added a second trip for 2014. USA Today adds that other business partners have refused to leave the 66-year-old's side, saying Tasty Blend Foods, Landies Candies, Springer Mountain Farms, Sandridge Foods and others have all expressed their support for Deen. Plan your boycotts accordingly.
