Taylor Swift wins Grammys with empowering Kanye West retort
In case you missed it, Taylor Swift won Album of the Year at the Grammys on Monday, and her acceptance speech included a little zinger directed at Kanye West, though she had the class not to call him out by name, because let's stop paying attention to this guy already.
Here's what she said. No side eye. All camera lens eye contact because 'Ye wasn't even there.
“As the first woman to win Album of the Year at the Grammys twice, I want to say to all the young women out there: There are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame. But if you just focus on the work, and you don’t let those people sidetrack you, someday when you get where you’re going, you’ll look around and you will know that it was you and the people who love you who put you there. And that will be the greatest feeling in the world.”
You may remember that just days ago West debuted this crass lyric in his song Famous: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / I made that b---- famous."
Swift took home three Grammys, including Best Pop Album and Best Music Video for Bad Blood.
