The CW cancels '90210,' will end show in May
In a kind of surprising move, the CW has canceled the 90210 reboot after a mere five seasons. We didn’t even get to the part where the skin cream model is gunned down in a case of mistaken identity and Luke Perry rides off like Shane on his bad-boy motorcycle. Well, except Antonia was dead, not Dylan.
TVLine.com’s Michael Ausiello says the show will end on May 13 after lackluster ratings. There will probably be a retrospective episode to point out repeatedly the original Beverly Hills 90210 ran for twice as long.
How bad has it gotten? Even with fairly popular lead-in The Carrie Diaries, 90210 has gone from about a million viewers to 600,000 this season. Even Gen X nostalgia for Jennie Garth can’t save a show after that kind of slide.
