Now that Tom Cruise is out promoting his new movie Oblivion, we can get down to brass tacks and talk about what really matters. Like his divorce from Katie Holmes almost a year ago, because that's what people want to know.

"I did not expect that," he said during an interview on a German TV station, according to RadarOnline. The divorce, he means, not the question itself. He was in Iceland filming the movie and was six days from turning 50 last June when Katie left him, taking their daughter Suri with her. The whole thing, he said, gave him "an incredible amount of time to reflect."

So what does it feel like to realize you're old and alone and have no friends, Tom? That's what people want to know.

“Life is a challenge,” he said. “To be 50 and have experiences and think you have everything under control and then it hits you— that’s what life is … Life is tragicomic. You need a certain sense of humor.” Now, a $100 million opening weekend for Oblivion would be nice.
