Valerie Harper announces she has terminal brain cancer

Valerie Harper, the 73-year-old actress from The Mary Tyler Moore Show, has announced she’s suffering from terminal brain cancer. She has as little as three months to live, People reports exclusively.
The actress, famous for playing Rhoda Morgenstern in Moore and spinoff Rhoda, told the magazine she was informed Jan. 15 she is suffering from leptomeningeal carcinomatosis. The condition involves cancer cells invading the membrane around the brain.
“I don’t think of dying,” she tells the magazine. “I think of being here now.” She suffered from lung cancer in 2009, as well. The magazine has a full interview with her, on newsstands this week.
