Vanessa Hudgens under criminal investigation for Instagram photo
If you’re going to commit a crime, try to resist posting photographic evidence on Instagram. Someone, please relay that message to Vanessa Hudgens.
The singer-actress-Rizzo extraordinaire posted some pics of her recent vacation with boyfriend Austin Butler. The couple retreated to Sedona, Ariz., which is known for its impressive rock formations, and it looked ever so lovely.
Slight problem: On Valentine’s Day, the pair carved their names and a heart into a rock and shared a photo. It has since been deleted. Because there’s a federal law prohibiting anyone from damaging natural surfaces on U.S. Forest Service land, the Red Rock Ranger District of the Coconino National Forest is investigating.
A spokesman for the CNF, Brady Smith, told the Independent that he’s not sure whether law enforcement has located the heart inside the 250 square-mile district. “People make mistakes whether knowingly or unknowingly,” Smith said, adding that he doesn’t know if any signs warn people about the law.
Authorities plan to research social media posts and get in touch with possible witnesses. The maximum punishment is $5,000 or six months in jail. We’re guessing the actors would face the former.
