Zac Efron reportedly was in rehab for alcohol, or maybe cocaine
As he pimps his new JFK assassination drama Parkland, Zac Efron seems to be fine, but the buzz is he got out of rehab only five short months ago and no one knew. What he was there for, exactly, seems to be up for debate.
"He's healthy, happy and not drinking," a source told E!, implying it was for alcohol. "He's taking time to focus on working." First up is the aforementioned Parkland, in which he plays Dr. Jim Carrico, the first person to examine President Kennedy after he was shot in Dallas.
But TMZ insists the 25-year-old was there for a coke habit (and maybe Molly, too), according to their sources, coming to light on the set of Seth Rogen's Neighbors back in April. "It was common knowledge he was struggling with cocaine," one of them said. Apparently he ended up trashing a room at the MGM Grand on the Las Vegas Strip to the tune of $50,000 while high as a kite, which we can only imagine prompted a rehab stay.
Efron's people didn't comment on the cocaine thing, nor the rehab stay in general, as far as we can tell. So maybe he just went on a long vacation, or was stalking ex-girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens, or maybe just working on the perfect hairstyle. We may never know.
