Angry Birds speaker docks now available for iOS and other devices

7362-green3.pngThe Angry Birds phenomenon continues to amaze me. Who would have thought that a simple iPhone app would rise to create cultural icons that rival the characters from Mario Brothers, Pac Man and others from gaming lore? With no sign that it's slowing down, the birds and pigs keep bringing the heat while the products keep coming to market. The latest in the Angry Birds lineup is these speaker docks from Gear4.

With three speaker docks to choose from you can find something compatible with pretty much any mobile device or music player. The Red Bird dock will attach to any audio device with a standard 3.5mm audio jack (headphone jack) and comes with a stand to prop up your device (does not charge your device). The Green Helmeted Pig dock can charge an iPod or iPhone through the dock connector in the helmet and will play your music through stereo speakers and a built-in sub woofer. And finally, the Black Bird dock also is made for iOS devices and comes with an external stand and dock connector for charging and playing your iPod/iPhone/iPad through the speakers.

All three units come with bass and volume controls and the Green Pig and Black Bird also come with a remote control. The Red Bird dock is $79.99 and the others are $99.99. They're available now on the Gear4 site, are scheduled to be available at Apple Stores soon and I already spied them at a Best Buy store in Tampa. No reports on the sound quality so far but I'll try to get an eval unit and report back.
