AT&T launches Tampa Bay "microsite" for online tracking of wireless network upgrades

In an effort to keep their customers informed about the ongoing changes and upgrades to their wireless network in Tampa Bay, AT&T has built a special online "microsite" where you can zero-in on your area to see the impact their upgrades will have on your wireless service.

At the new “Focus: Tampa-St. Petersburg” microsite visitors can view a map of the Tampa-St. Petersburg area and can select a city or county to get specific information about the area in which they're interested. The map displays specific network enhancements that AT&T has made in the Tampa Bay area since the beginning of 2011 and clicking on individual upgrade markers produces a pop-up window with information about the upgrades in that area. Enhancements to AT&T's network include new cell sites, broadband speed upgrades, capacity upgrades and network connection upgrades. You also can use the site to find AT&T stores in your area or to find WiFi hotspots around the region.

If you're a Twitter user you can follow AT&T's progress in Tampa Bay using Twitter handle @ATT_Tampa. Tweets from the @ATT_Tampa handle also are featured on the microsite.

Also included on the site is a “Did You Know?” section providing tips on how to extend the battery life of devices, how to manage data consumption more efficiently and more. AT&T plans to update the information on the Tampa Bay site each Thursday. Other cities with microsites include Dallas-Fort Worth, St. Louis, Kansas City, Miami-Fort Lauderdale and Houston.
