Blu-ray on the rise after holiday sales
With all the Internet-connected TVs, the Apple TV and Roku boxes plus many streaming video choices, many analysts have predicted Blu-ray technology would fall before reaching it's peak. For this holiday season DVD sales are down but Blu-ray sales are up 75%, according to a story in the Wall Street Journal citing data from Nash Information Services.
Blu-ray players, one of the "12 Gadgets of Christmas" featured in my recent video, now are available at prices below $100 and some Blu-ray discs are available at prices similar to DVDs. Streaming is nice, but I still believe some people will want to own certain movies and buy the special-edition Blu-ray sets that offer enhanced content.
