CBS March Madness On-Demand app is a slam dunk for iPhone and iPad
Dipsy-doo, dunkaroo baby! The new and enhanced March Madness On-Demand (MM OD) app from CBS Sports and Turner Sports is available for download, just in time for the launch of the iPad 2. Coincidence? I think not.
Produced by CBS Interactive, the MMOD experience went mobile last year with a paid app for the iPhone. This year the app is free and for the first time an optimized iPad version is available. The MMOD app will provide live streaming video of every game of the tournament starting with the First Four from Dayton, OH on March 15, and continuing through the Men's Final Four® semifinals and national championship game from Houston, TX on April 2 and April 4. The CBS Selection Show on March 13 at 6 PM and the National Bracket Day broadcast on March 14 at noon also are included.
The app makes it easy to find your teams and broadcasts. Just type in your zip code in My Channels and select your TV provider to see your channel lineup. The Game Center view provides stats on all games. The Coke Zero NCAA March Madness Social Arena provides social networking hook-ups to Facebook and NCAA.com. Fans can LIKE teams in each round and build their social score in an innovative view of the traditional bracket, as well as comment on games, interact with the social hosts, and rate highlights.
The MMOD streaming broadcasts also are available on PCs and Macs. Sorry, Android users. You weren't invited to the Big Dance, and that's odd since the Android operating system recently overtook Blackberry for the number one spot. With such strong Android phones and tablets now coming to market, hopefully Android will make the bracket next year.
