Chill your favorite canned or bottled beverage in 5 minutes or less

Baby, it's HOT outside. I was in Reno, NV last week and although that city is in the desert, it was hotter in Tampa Bay than it was there. It's especially important to stay hydrated when temperatures are running high, and frosty bottles of water or other beverages can really soothe the scorch. But have you ever had some warm beverages with no time to wait for them to reach a drinkable temperature?

mail_attachment.pngFor bottles and glasses you can use Rapid Ice chillers from corkpops.com. These chillers are flexible sleeves that contain a specially-formulated liquid. Put them in the freezer for several hours and use them to chill a standard-sized bottled beverage or glass in under five minutes.

But what if you have cans or just want to quickly chill some beverages without the use of a gadget? Just get a big bowl, some ice, water and salt and in about two minutes you can drop the temperature of can of soda by 40 degrees for some cool refreshment. The salt is used to reduce the freezing point of the water. Remember using salt with an old-fashioned, hand-crank ice cream maker? It's pretty much the same concept. Check out the how-to video below from YouTube's Kipkay and never drink warm water or soda again!
