Clearwater inventor's eyeglass repair kit wins third place in contest
Look for Nancy Tedeschi's creation on Walmart shelves soon. The Clearwater inventor's SnapIt Screw eyeglass repair kit placed third in Walmart's Get on the Shelf contest, where more than a million online voters cast votes on the best homegrown gadgets, widgets or marketing ideas from about 4,300 entries.
Three of the top 10 were from the Tampa Bay area: Other Tampa Bay finalists are the Sola-Bag Forever refrigerator cooler from Gene Lasker of Tampa, and Soleeze Spring Loaded insole inserts from Catherine Julian of New Port Richey.
A Philadelphia company selling premium-priced bottled water to raise money for clean drinking water in impoverished countries has won Walmart's Get on the Shelf contest.The PlateTopper, an airtight storage cover to keep a plate of food fresh for $19.77 a pair, was second.
