Even a Gadget Guy doesn't need underwear with an iPhone pocket
You've heard me talk about Scottevest before. They make great products and I love my Travel Vest. Their latest product is a bit of a surprise, however, and I can't decide if it's intended to be a gag or if it's just a bad idea.
The new Travel Boxers come complete with a pocket for an iPhone, Android or other such device. Now I suppose that could come in handy if you needed to hide your phone from someone while traveling, although the white earbuds dangling out of your shorts would give you away.
Scottevest always has had a grass-roots feel as a company. Founder and CEO Scott Jordan is featured in most, if not all of the advertising and if you're on their mailing list you get emails that appear to written by Jordan himself. So I guess it's no surprise that he's featured in a risqué animated graphic on the front of the site, showing his mid-section in the new boxers being X-rayed. His new title? CEO and Underwear Model.
Jordan also is the star of the above YouTube video demonstrating the new product. That's right, he parades around in the boxers, much to the surprise of some of the ladies in the office, explaining how they can be worn as shorts or underwear. Never mind that they have an open fly and they look like underwear. My favorite moment is when he discloses that he sleeps with his iPhone and Lucy the Poodle pops in with some editorial comment (see video above).
Don't get me wrong. I like grass-roots and a CEO who can make fun of himself is always a good thing. I just don't think many people will want to buy underwear with an iPhone pocket.
