Expected launch of Facebook email today
The Web has been a-Twitter since last week with news about the anticipated launch of Facebook email. Many blogs have reported it will be announced, and possibly launched, today. This is due to an invitation-only, double secret probation event that is being held by Facebook prior to Mark Zuckerberg's scheduled Web 2.0 Summmit.
TechCrunch has gone so far to say Facebook email will be a Gmail killer.
I'm on Facebook a lot and having email there might be convenient, but it seems like too many eggs in one basket. Gmail is a solid email system with loads of great features, so it will take a lot to make me jump. And with new browsers coming out like Rockmelt, which combines web browsing, social networks and email all into one application, I'm not sure it will be necessary to make a switch.
If Facebook launches an email system will you abandon Gmail or another email system you're using? Please share your thoughts.
