Fanhattan iPad app goes social with Facebook, adds VUDU to streaming lineup
At the beginning of August I told you about a great iPad app named Fanhattan which serves as an elegant and feature-rich menu for streaming video content. The app was just updated with several new features, including Facebook and Twitter integration and the addition of VUDU as a default streaming video provider.
The new social features in Fanhattan allow you to share your streaming discoveries with friends, quickly and easily. When you sign into Facebook from within the app it automatically creates a list of suggested movies and TV shows based on the recent “likes” of your friends. This list is continually updated each time a friend "likes" video content on Facebook. The Twitter integration features content from the official streams and Facebook pages for TV shows, movies and celebrities for easy viewing plus the ability to share via tweets right from the app.
The addition of content from VUDU increases Fanhattan's offerings and adds to content already available from iTunes, HuluPlus, Netflix and the ABC Player. You also view content from Crackle, Amazon Instant Video, Blockbuster and others by pressing the "info" button on any Watch Now screen and selecting the services you plan to use. On this screen you also can choose to view all available choices or ones that are specific to iPad delivery. The services are conveniently sorted into groups for ad-supported, subscription and on-demand streaming content and for DVD rentals too.
The interface on this app is drop-dead gorgeous and these new features make it even better. You could spend hours exploring the many layers of content in Fanhattan. If you have an iPad and like to watch movies, it's a must-have app.
