Find Girl Scout cookies online or with iPhone app
It's Girl Scout cookie time! Most of us have a neighborhood kid or someone at work who can hook us up with our annual supply of Tagalongs, Thin Mints and Samoas. But if you're having trouble finding someone with cookies and need your fix, now you can find them online or with an iPhone app.
The Girl Scouts have a new web site where you can enter your zip code to find a local cookie distributor. Once they narrow-in on your region you then provide an email address or phone number so someone in your area can contact you and hook you up.
The site also has a survey for choosing your favorite cookie, links to cookie information about all the cookies, video links and buttons for access to their Twitter, Facebook and YouTube pages, among others.
You can place your cookie orders from now (began on Jan. 7) until Jan. 28. Cookie booths at your local grocery store or mall will be set up from Feb. 25 to March 20. If the end of the cookie season is upon us and you need to find just one moire box of Thin Mints, a cookie booth locator will be available beginning Feb. 25 to help you find your final stash. In Tampa Bay a link to the booth locator will be at www.gswcf.org on or shortly before Feb. 25.
The cookie booth locator also comes as an iPhone app, available now. The app has descriptions and nutritional information for all the cookies, a booth locator with Google maps, a list of "cookie personalities" (I'm a brainy, complex and mysterious Samoa) and you can set alerts so you will receive an email when cookies are available in your area. You also can share your favorite cookies and personalites on Facebook, Twitter or through email.
With so many ways to find Girl Scout cookies this year we don't have to worry about finding a strung-out friend or co-worker in need of a Trefoil. The cookies are just a couple clcks away!
