Get in the Halloween mood with free music from Slacker Radio

large_logo.jpegEach Halloween, I'm usually the one who stays home and gives out (eats) the candy while Mrs. Gadget Guy tends to the trick-or-treating duty with the our daughter and the neighborhood kids. I like to wear a mask and scare the ones who are old enough to take it, and it's nice to have some Halloween tunes or creepy sound effects playing when they come to the door. I bought a Halloween "greatest hits" CD years ago and some of those tunes are in our iTunes library now, but it's time for something new. Thanks to Slacker Radio, I have four different Halloween-themed playlists with a variety of songs and sounds, ready to go, for free! There's even a special kids' channel with less-scary options for the little ones. Check it out:

Halloween: Get the party started with Halloween on Slacker Radio. We cracked open the crypt to bring you the most terrifying tunes this side of the graveyard. You’ll hear creepy classics, freaky film scores and eerie effects to put a chill in your bones.

halloween_sounds.jpegIndie Halloween: It’s often hard to tell the difference between costumed revelers and sullen hipsters. For this reason, Halloween is the most indie-rock holiday of the year. On this station, you’ll hear Indie artists singing about blood, death, bones, ghosts, pumpkins and other loosely-related Halloween topics.

Kids’ Halloween: Kids’ Halloween on Slacker Radio is for the young and the young at heart. This station embraces the silly side of Halloween and features songs for the little ones that aren’t quite ready for the scary stuff yet.

Halloween Sounds: Halloween Sounds on Slacker Radio is just that – the spooky sonics of the holiday. Haunting instrumentals, creepy sound effects and the perfect soundtrack for a trip through a haunted house.

If you aren't familiar with Slacker Radio, this is a good way to check it out. Slacker was founded to deliver personalized radio to everyone. They combine the knowledge of the nation's leading music experts from every genre and your own personal tastes to create perfect radio stations for each and every listener. The basic account is free and they have two subscription options, Slacker Radio Plus and Premium Radio for $3.99 and $9.99 a month respectively, that remove advertisements and offer enhanced features.

So if you're a slacker, like me, and don't have your Halloween tunes ready for the big night, Slacker Radio has you covered. They have apps for iOS, Android, BlackBerry, Windows Phone 7 and others. Get the app, hook up some speakers and you're in business. Check it out!
