Ghoulish gadgets for Halloween

4

October

It's less than four weeks until Halloween and it's time to see what gadgets are available to help with your hauntings. Some pretty scarrrry stuff out there, so let's take a look!

Zombie Brain Gelatin Mold

Most of us turn into zombies from time to time, due to busy lives and heavy work schedules. If you want to really play the part, however, you need one of these zombie brain gelatin molds from ThinkGeek.com. Use the mold to make lifelike brain treats for some cerebral snacking that's sure to get them screaming at your Halloween party. It's also great for the neighborhood haunted house.

iBoo Stereo iPod Docking Station

I like to play scary Halloween music and sounds when the trick-or-treaters come to the door and the iBoo Stereo iPod Docking Station looks like a perfect fit. House in a body shaped like a friendly ghost, the iBoo uses three speakers and bass-reflex technology to deliver 2.1 stereo sound. It comes with a wireless remote and an auxillary output for connecting a television, gaming console, mp3 player or other audio source. It's available in red, blue and a ghostly white.

Zombie Shooting Gallery

Have you ever wanted to try your hand at zombie shooting but didn't have a gun or some zombies? With the zombie shooting gallery from ThinkGeek.com you use a laser assault rifle to take out the zombies in the windows before they eat the hostages inside. If you hear a scream and a gulp, you're too late!

Star Wars Pet Costumes

Want an out-of-this-world costume for your dog this Halloween? You must go to the Dagobark system to seek Yoda. While you're there check out Leia and Doggie Darth too. These Star Wars Pet Costumes from ThinkGeek.com come in sizes small to extra-large and are sure to help your little Fifi bring order to the galaxy. OK, maybe not but they will make people smile!

Light Up Body Parts

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and tell you about these light-up body parts from Forum Novelties. They come in a set that includes one arm, one leg, one hand and one foot. Each part has a battery pack requiruing two AA batteries. Get these and set yourself up with a table, mannequin, chainsaw and some fake blood and you could be a real cut-up this year.

Various Pumpkin-Carving Tools

Before getting out the kitchen knife and spoon this year, take a look at some of these battery-operated pumpkin carving gadgets.

The Pumpkin Masters Power Poker Saw and Power Scoop are designed to make your carving easier, faster and safer. The Power Poker Saw has two attachments, one for poking holes to outline your pattern and the other to cut the pattern out. It runs on four AA batteries. The Power Scoop is made to tear the seeds and strings away from the interior walls of the pumpkin and also can be used to thin the pumpkin's walls for easy carving. Pumpkin Masters has four free jack-o-lantern patterns on their site as well as pumpkin carving tips.

The Pumpkin Carving Kit from Dremel is a battery-operated Dremel tool with a special sculpting bit that can be used to cut away layers of skin on the pumpkin for a different, glowing effect. It comes with ten patterns to get you started.

I'll be using these carving tools in a how-to video soon to see if they work as advertised, so stay tuned. Have a safe, and great Halloween!
