Halloween apps for Android and iOS

Just a few days remain before Halloween and this year there are a bunch of apps available to help you celebrate the holiday. Here are some of best ones I found for both the Android and iOS operating systems. Check them out!

Bubble Blast Halloween Edition - This fun and free game challenges your ability to think ahead. It's a puzzle game in which you burst Halloween characters to trigger a chain reaction in order to eliminate them all. It comes with two game modes; a puzzle mode with 3500 levels (with exclusives for this Halloween Edition) and an arcade mode for free play. Wildly addictive!

Pumpkin Carver - If you aren't planning to carve a real jack-o-lantern this year but still want to get in the holiday spirit, you can use this app to make one without all the mess. Just use your fingers to carve as many pumpkins as you'd like then save it to your photo gallery. From there you can send it to friends, post it as your Facebook profile picture or use it as a wallpaper on your phone. No gooey guts to pull out and no moldy pumpkin to throw away. The app is $1.01.

Trick or Tracker - Worried about your kids wandering around in the dark on the big night? For kids who are old enough to go trick-or-treating alone, you can arm them with an Android phone and this app so you can track them while they collect their candy. This system is designed to be used with the app installed on two Android phones, one for the parent and one for the child, but basic tracking functionality will work for the parent using any smartphone with access to Google maps. The app also has a built-in flashlight feature and now comes with Latchkey Kid and Guards Up!. Those two features can notify you when your child arrives home from school or when they voluntarily or involuntarily travel outside an allowable perimeter. Trick or Tracker is $4.99.

Halloween Ringtones - A selection of scary, creepy, spooky Halloween you can use as ringtones, notifications or alarms. This app is free from Sancron Classic Ringtones.

iOS (iPhone, iPod and iPad)

Halloween Card Creator Free - Use this app to send some spooky Halloween cards to your friends and family. The app has tons of flexibility and lets you use Halloween backgrounds, clip art, fonts and pictures from your camera roll to maximize customization. Cards can be shared on Facebook, through Email or you can save then to your Photo Album. The app is compatible with the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. Upgrade to the full version for $.99 to have access to more backgrounds and more than 150 pieces of clip art.

Costume Ideas - Halloween - If you're still looking for costume ideas for your kids or for that big Halloween party this weekend, this app can help. Not only can you use it to search for available costumes but it will also help you find the best deal when you're ready to buy. It's loaded with more than 2,000 Halloween costume ideas and you can search for costumes by age and gender and for singles or couples. You even can shake your iPhone to get a randomly generated costume idea. Once you find the costume you want, press the "Shop For It" button to start a browser search and get that costume. The app is $.99 and is compatible with the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.

Make A Zombie – Have some fun making your very own zombies with this free app for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. Choose from backgrounds, bodies, clothes, eyes, hairstyles, heads, legs and mouths to create zombies for the whole family. Once created you can share them via email, on Twitter or Facebook or save them to your Camera Roll from within the app. The app also has built-in AirPrint functionality so you can print your creations without leaving the app. Want some more bloody legs or drooly mouths? Visit the integrated Zombie Store to buy more parts.

Halloween Sound Lab - Having a Halloween party or want to set a spooky mood for the trick-or-treaters at your door? Use this app to create your own special blend of spooky and creepy sounds and easily change things up using the simple on-and-off sliders for each sound. The app includes 13 sound loops from free, including: Wicked Witch, Boiling Cauldron, Screams of the Wretched, Speaking in Tongues, Ghosts, Dungeon, Dragging Chains, Zombies, Heartbeat, Empty Rocking Chair, Haunting Wind, Lost Soul Crying for Help and Creepy Organ. This app is $.99.

Gee it sure would be nice if some iPhone users would post some zombies and the Android users would post some jack-o-lanterns on the Gadget Guy Facebook fan page (hint, hint!). Happy Halloween, everyone!
