Harness the power of the sun for your laptop and smartphone
Gadgets, gadgets everywhere but power nowhere to be found. The folks at Neon Green Solar have some innovative solutions to help you keep your electronics powered when staying plugged-in isn't an option. On Tuesday at CTIA Wireless 2011 in Orlando, they were showing a solar backpack made to use with your laptop and other devices. One model also had built-in speakers for a connection to your mp3 player. The backpack comes with a matching solar panel and they also offer a piggy-back panel for your existing backpack. These likely would be popular on college campuses where you could be on the grid, sitting on a park bench while your laptop gets charged by the flaming ball in the sky. That is the true definition of wireless.
They had another solar device that caught my eye, a key chain-sized panel with integrated battery, intended for direct connection to various smart phones. Called the Lil' Piggy Power Bank, it would be a good choice for boating and camping to keep your phone topped.
