Instacane is a live Instagram photo album telling the story of Hurricane Irene
A friend just sent me a link to a piece on TheNextWeb.com with info about a new site called Instacane. It's basically a living album of photos that were created using the popular Instagram app for iOS. Most of the photos seem to be coming out of New York City and that's probably because, as TheNextWeb reported, a team at the New York Times set up the site. Because there are lots of cool photo filters built into the Instagram app, most of the photos have a nostalgic, dreamy look to them. It's an interesting way to see a story told completely in photos as it happens. Of course you can click on each photo to get more information, but there's no need! I think the person who plans to survive the storm with Nutella has the right idea. The Hurricane Necessities sign photo was made by Instagram user thelovelist and was made in Portland, Maine.
