Ion Book Saver makes fast work of scanning books

(Las Vegas, Nevada - January 6, 2011- CES) - With all the tablets and e-readers coming out, a fast way to scan books and magazines will come in handy as we digitize more and more of our personal libraries. The Ion Book Saver is an ingenious, wedge-shaped camera cradle that fits in the gutter of a book. Just turn the page, place the cradle and make photos of the pages. Pages save to an SD card for easy transfer to your chosen book reader.

The two included cameras make separate images of each page in rapid succession. Both cameras have a flash for good contrast and exposure. The Book Saver’s cradle is designed to the open pages down to get a flat, even surface. Book Saver takes only one second for every two pages for rapid copying of books. Pricing and availability was not released.

This is a cool gadget that will help us preserve everything from comic book collections to old yearbooks to out-of-print literature in private collections. Hopefully pricing will be set so that it will be affordable for individuals.
