IRIS 9000 transforms your iPhone 4S into HAL 9000
When Siri made it's debut earlier this month, one of the first things I thought was that it was like having your own HAL 9000. Do you remember HAL? He was the intelligent computer from the movie 2001: A space odyssey who uttered the famous "Hello, Dave" phrase. Well it didn't take the folks at Think Geek long to pick up on the possibilities and today they announced the IRIS 9000.

The IRIS 9000 (that's Siri backwards, btw) is a voice control module for iPhone 4S fashioned as a miniature version of the HAL 9000. Place your iPhone 4S in the docking cradle and use the included remote to trigger Siri from up to 50 feet away. Then talk to Siri and get your answers or make calls from across the room. A built-in microphone and the speaker amplifies Siri's responses. And when Siri speaks the red "eye" on the IRIS 9000 flickers, just like HAL's did. You also can use it as a standard speakerphone for making and receiving calls, but it's only compatible with the iPhone 4S.
The IRIS 9000 will be available in Spring 2012 for $59.99 and you can send ThinkGeek your email address now to get notification when it's available.
