iZON Remote Room Monitor by Stem is an easy iOS spycam system

A few weeks back I did an extensive post about home video surveillance cameras that included several choices. Today a new video camera was released and from the looks of it, this may be one to watch.

It's called the iZON Remote Room Monitor from Florida-based Stem Innovation and it's designed as an easy system for remote video monitoring on your iPhone, iPod or iPad. And unlike many other wireless surveillance cameras, this one includes sound.

The iZON includes the free Stem:Connect iOS app and step-by-step instructions for attaching it to your WiFi network (802.11g or 802.11n wireless network required). The iZON broadcasts its own wireless network so it can attach to your local network with no need for cables or a PC. Just place it in the room you want to monitor and plug it in, then launch the app. It can be configured to detect motion or sound. Alerts can be sent to your mobile device via push notifications and video/audio can automatically be recorded and sent to a YouTube account for sharing or later viewing. Manual recording of 30-second clips also is available with a button in the app. All video and audio is streamed using secure, encrypted data on your WiFi network.

This looks like it would be great for monitoring a baby, a baby-sitter, your pets or maybe even that prized sports car in the garage. An evaluation unit is on the way so I'll give you a full review after it arrives.

iZON is available today at and in select Best Buy locations. It also will be available soon at Apple retail stores across the U.S. and Canada and will be arriving at Target retail stores in early October. The suggested retail price is $129.95.
