Loss prevention for your iPhone, iPod and iPad
Are you "all thumbs" when it comes to handling your iPhone or iPod? If your clumsiness has landed these devices tumbling from your grasp, how about a little insurance -- a safety harness? EK USA -- a maker of lanyards and accessories for outdoors, motorsports and pets -- has a solution for you with its new iCat holders.
These gizmos connect to any Apple iPods and iPhones by locking into the data port of the device (keeping dirt and contaminants out, too). Note: The packaging also claims to work on an iPad, but when we tried it, the clasp wouldn't click in all the way, and would not attach securely. So best keep it to the smaller devices. Clip-on versions have sturdy carabiners. They're available in 20 color choices and they're made in the USA.
There are four types:
Reel iT: With a 22-inch retractable reel which can handle much more than your employee badge. Clip it onto your belt or bag with a sturdy carabiner and pull it close to you to use the device. $29.99
Neck iT: Long enough to wear around your neck. It has a safety breakaway on the lanyard, and a detachable buckle to remove the device. $24.99
Hang iT: Clip it onto your backpack or belt loop with a detachable carabiner. (Shown in photo). $24.99
Wrist iT: Loop it around your wrist. It comes with an adjustable slider to tighten the loop. $24.99
