Most old cases won't fit Verizon iPhone, Scosche is on the case
In order to redesign the antenna on the iPhone 4 for Verizon, the three buttons on the left side of the phone had to be moved. This means many of the iPhone cases on the market will not fit. Even Apple's own bumper case won't fit because it is designed for precise placement of those buttons. So who's on the case?
Scosche Industries announced Wednesday they will be ready with several Verizon iPhone 4 compatible cases for Verizon's February 10th launch. The beefKASE g4™ case, which is made from genuine leather and polycarbonate to provide a more classic look, is available now.
After making quick modifications to several of their popular cases, Scosche also will have black and white versions of the kickBACK™ hybrid polycarbonate and rubber case with integrated kickstand. A similar case, the switchKASE g4™, which features a kickBACK case and a smooth silicone skin with a removable sports armband for working out with the Verizon iPhone 4 will be ready at launch too.
The switchBACK g4™ also will be available, allowing users to snap different colors and styles onto the back of their case including both smooth back and kickstand designs. Launch color choices will include Pink & Purple and Dark Chrome & Blue Chrome, with Red & Yellow and Blue & Red bundles due out in March.
Last in the lineup will be the switchBACK surge™ back up battery case which features a rechargeable lithium-ion with 1800 mAh of battery power to provide 70% - 80% of extra battery power. The integrated micro USB port allows users charge and sync the iPhone while in use and will be available this spring.
It's good to know that Verizon iPhone customers will have some choices at launch to protect their investment. Other case manufacturers are sure to be making similar announcements soon, although there is no word if Apple will be offering a different version of their popular bumper case for the Verizon iPhone.
