New York Times interactive shows satellite photos before and after Japan earthquake
The New York Times has put together a striking interactive piece that allows you to view satellite photos of various Japanese towns, before and after the earthquake and ensuing tsunami that struck on Friday. By sliding the bar across the photos you instantly see the changes to the landscape and it becomes quickly apparent that entire towns were literally washed away in the rushing water. It's a very powerful use of multimedia and it's also very sad.
