Nielsen study: Half of mobile phone users have smartphones
Smartphones' popularity is increasing, according to a study by Nielsen. Almost half (49.7 percent) of those in the United States subscribed to a mobile network have smartphones as of February, a 38 percent increase over a year ago. Overall, Android continues to hold the lead in the smartphone race, with 48 percent of smartphone owners who say they own an Android OS device. Apple iphone owners account for 32.1 percent, and Blackberry has 11.6 percent of the market.
