Owle Bubo now available for iPhone 4

The Owle Bubo, a cool device made to convert your iPhone into a "real" video camera, is now available for the iPhone 4. The original version, for the iPhone 3GS, was cut from a solid piece of aluminum and included standard four, 1/4-inch tripod mount sockets, a cold shoe for lights and other accessories, a threaded lens attachment with high-resolution lens and an external microphone. The iPhone mounts into the Owle Bubo using a provided silicone case for a tight, friction fit.

It appears the iPhone 4 version of the Owle Bubo will have similar accessories, with the exception of the microphone, which will be replaced by a microphone adapter with a 1/8-inch jack. Based on photos posted on the ordering site, it also may be available in different colors and finishes this time but that has not been confirmed. The original was available only in black.

I have the original version of the Owle Bubo and was impressed with the build quality. It's a heavy piece and gives the iPhone the weight needed to make handheld video more stable. I had planned to do a review but decided to wait until the iPhone 4 version came out so watch for it in the near future.
