Photographers will love these mugs

So you're out for a photo shoot in the cold morning air...what would be better than a nice, hot cup of joe or hot chocolate? You get home, reach in your camera bag, grab a lens and take off the lens cap to take a drink. What?

With these unique travel mugs from canonmugs.com or canonmugsshop.com the scenario I described is possible even if it isn't practical. Originally Canon gave these away to pro photographers at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. They were an instant hit and although originally thought to be a limited edition, they eventually started turning up for sale.

The original ones are getting hard to find, although it appears the ones at canonmugs.com or canonmugsshop.com may be the originals because the box looks the same and the price is higher, at just under $50 for the 70-200mm mug. Both places sell Nikon lens mugs too.

For less-expensive alternatives you can get a Canon 24-105mm lens mug at Photojojo for $24. And of course you can always try eBay, where a quick search produced dozens of choices with "Buy It Now" prices under $10. But buyer beware. The quality on the less-expensive ones will almost certainly vary from the original.

Beyond using these for coffee mugs you can serve ice cream in them or use them as a pot for a small plant...lots of possibilities. If you have a photographer in your life, one of these gadgets would make a great gift.
