Smart Baby Monitor brings sleeping baby video to your portable device
(Las Vegas, Nevada - January 5, 2011- CES) Withings has released the Smart Baby Monitor, a video camera that interacts with with your iPhone to bring visual monitoring and 2-way communication between you and your child.
Featuring a high-resolution 3MP camera, extra wide view lens and night vision with infrared LEDs, the monitor's gives parents access to audio/video (day & night vision) and ambient parameters (temperature & humidity) remotely from any remote connection. It's also equipped with a microphone and speaker that allows interaction with the child without being in the room. Parents also can control music that plays in the room through the monitor and can change songs or play lists right from their connected device. And the monitor has Alarms that can be set to alert parents of sleep disruption.
Designed for use with the Apple iPhone, it can be configured to communicate with any connected device, including Smartphones, tablets, PCs, Macs, eBook readers and Internet-connected TVs. The monitor will adapt itself to the best network path through WiFi, Bluetooth or a hard-line connection.
Although it's designed as a baby monitor, I can see many uses for this device. It could be used to monitor pets with 2-way communication (Scruffy, get off the couch!). It also could be used for pre-teen children who are home alone and for general surveillance. Hopefully I'll get some hands-on time with this device when when the show opens tomorrow.
