Snapseed photo app for iOS is free for a limited time

The popular Snapseed photo editing app for iOS devices is free until Sept. 23. Snapseed was an iTunes App of the Week in August and consistently receives user ratings between 4-5 stars.

Snapseed offers an impressive set of editing tools for toning and enhancing photos, including some nice special effects filters and frames. To use the app you can access the camera on your device to make a new picture or you can start with an existing picture in your Camera Roll. The app has on-screen instructions to help you navigate the various tools and everything is done with swipes and gestures. The editing is non-destructive so you never change your original image. All through the editing process you can see an instant comparison between the original image and the altered version with the touch of one button.

The level of control is amazing and with some patience you can enhance and create beautiful images on your iPhone or iPod. Snapseed is a universal app though, and on the iPad's larger screen it really shines. It even supports RAW format photos on the iPad if you have the Camera Connection Kit.  When you're done enhancing a photo you can save it to your Camera Roll, or send it to email, Facebook or Flickr.

I have several photo editing apps on my iPad and Snapseed blows them all away. Don't miss this opportunity to grab it for free, and if you do miss it, at a regular price of $4.99 it's still a gift.
