Sprint set to Peel the Apple iPod Touch with 3G

There has been lots of buzz over the last two days about a rumored device for the iPod Touch called the Peel. Reported to be released soon by Sprint, the Peel is said to be a special case for the iPod Touch that will give it 3G data capability and an extended battery. So although it won't make your iPod Touch into an iPhone, if you use Skype it would be pretty close. It's likely a case containing a Sprint MiFi.

The rumors are based on FCC Documents so the information is sketchy and no pricing has been announced. Sprint also has the 3G/4G Overdrive mobile hot spot and based on the bulkiness of the Peel in the released photos, it's possible the Overdrive will be the core of the Peel (I'm having fun with these puns).

I'm not sure if the Peel will appeal to iPod Touch users or not. Instead of adding this to your iPod wouldn't it just be easier to get an iPhone? I'd love to hear from all you iPod owners about this.
