Starbucks Card Mobile app now available nationwide for iPhone, Blackberry

Are you a Starbucks junkie with a Smartphone? If you are, Starbucks just made it really easy for you to make purchases with your phone using the new Starbucks Card Mobile app.

screen_shot_2011-01-19_at_12.45.35_pm.pngAvailable for Blackberry and iPhone, the new app acts as a replacement for those little plastic cards although you have to start with one of those cards to get going. Just register at least one of the cards on the Starbucks web site and create an account with a login name. The download the app and login using your account credentials. Your cards will then be linked to the app. You can add or delete cards and also can add a credit card or Paypal account for replenishing cards at any time.

When you're ready to make a purchase at one of the more than 7,500 Starbucks stores (including the ones in Target stores) nationwide, press the "Touch to Pay" button and a virtual Starbucks card will appear on your screen with a bar code. The Starbucks employee is then supposed to present you with a scanner so you can scan your code and make your purchase. The total is deducted from your account in real time and your "My Rewards" points are updated too. The app also includes a store locator.
