Verizon iPhone pre-sale sells out on first day
It took just over five hours for Verizon to sell out of iPhones and end their pre-sale to existing customers. There are reports that their web site was overrun with people trying to buy the phones and some were unsuccessful because of traffic issues. If you really want an iPhone on Verizon you have another chance though. Their site says they will be available online again on Feb. 9 at 3:01 AM EST (not 3 AM mind you, but 3:01 AM) and at 7 AM local time in stores on Feb 10. Synchronize your watches!
If you don't want to get up at 3 AM but really want an iPhone on Feb 10, stay away from Verizon and Apple stores which are sure to clogged. Even though I still think you should wait for the next iPhone this summer, here's a tip. Go to Best Buy to get your iPhone instead. Best Buy and select Wal Mart astores were just added to the list of retailers for launch day. When the iPhone 4 first came out, I walked into my local Best Buy and walked out with two iPhone 4s ten minutes later. People at the Apple Store and AT&T stores in Tampa Bay waited in line for hours and some still didn't get an iPhone on the first day.
