Will the iPhone 5 have a larger screen? Here's some evidence
The rumor mill is pretty quiet on the iPad 2 now that the announcement is near, so attention now turns to the iPhone 5. Today, 9 to 5 Mac posted a photo of what they claim to be the new digitizer panel from the iPhone 5. The part was found on a Chinese parts site and it has much thinner sides with an overall larger screen size. Exact dimensions aren't known but a mock up found on Piotrek Photos shows what the large screen could look like if the form-factor of the iPhone remains the same.
Multiple sources have reported Apple is working on several new designs for the iPhone and there have been rumors of larger screens, a smaller iPhone, an iPhone with a built-in multimedia projector and a retractable keyboard. An iPhone with a larger screen makes sense. Despite the iPhone's popularity, screen size has quickly become an area of deficiency when compared to so many of the new Android phones from HTC, Samsung and others.
The mock up shows how thin the sides of the screen would be on the new iPhone if the found part is used. Notice the wasted space at the top and bottom of the iPhone 4's face is eliminated and the menu bar shows LTE, indicating the next iPhone will be 4G.
Is it June yet?
