Wireless calls and texts to Japan free on AT&T through March, relief for wired calls too

In the wake of the tragic situation in Japan many of us know people who are calling there, frantically trying to find relatives and friends. To ease the financial burden of those calls, AT&T is providing support to their customers.

att-logo.jpgEffective as of March 11, all wireless calls and texts originating from a U.S. number are free until March 31. Additionally, residential wired customers who call Japan can receive a credit for those calls for up to 60 minutes of direct-dial time. To get this credit, customers need to call AT&T after receiving their bill.

Additionally, TV Japan – the 24 hour Japanese news channel – is available free through March 17 to all AT&T U-verse® TV subscribers, allowing viewers to follow the news and recovery efforts. TV Japan can be found on channel 3680.
