With the regular season in its last week, this is one of the burning questions around the league. Coach John Tortorella has come out strong for his player. But, really, what else did you expect him to do? And Vinny has had a great season with a league-best 51 goals and his first 100-point season. But is he the most valuable? An informal poll by the Vancouver Province newspaper of the print media which votes for the award had Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby on top followed by Vancouver goalie Roberto Luongo and New Jersey's Martin Brodeur. It is a difficult question. Vinny's season, for a lot of the country, I'd bet, has gotten overlooked because Tampa Bay struggled early, may not win its division and is still scrambling to secure a playoff spot. Then there is Crosby, the catalyst of a terrific Penguins season and Luongo who took a team no one believed would be in the playoffs and turned it into a monster. And Brodeur always is Brodeur. Personally, I don't think Vinny will make it. I'm not even sure for whom I am going to vote, though right now I'm leaning toward Luongo only because the Canucks don't score that much and are such a surprise. But I'm open to counter arguments. Convince me I should vote for Vinny.
