Bill Barber resigns
Bill Barber, who spent the past six seasons as the Lightning's player personnel director, has resigned, Lightning spokesman Bill Wickett said.
Barber, who turns 56 on July 11, a Hall of Fame player with the Flyers and a former Philadelphia coach, grew tired of the arduous travel associated with his job and wanted to spend more time with his family, Wickett said. Tampa Bay is expected to make a formal announcement today. Barber also is expected to be available to the media.
