Agent: Vinny has "no-move" clause
For those of you stung by defenseman Dan Boyle having a "no trade" clause but not a "no move" clause, fear not, Vinny Lecavalier's agent, Kent Hughes, said his client's new 11-year, $85-million contract extension has a no move clause that means Lecavalier will have to consent to any transaction, even waivers.
"He is here for his career," said Brian Lawton, vice president of hockey operations.
As for the breakdown of the money, which includes an $11-million signing bonus spread throughout the contract, Lecavalier will make $10-million in his first seven seasons, not six as previously believed. He then goes to $8.5-million in year eight, $4-million in year nine, $1.5-million in year 10 and $1-million in year 11.
"He wanted to stay in Tampa Bay," Hughes said Sunday. "He wanted to start and finish his career in Tampa Bay and play in a community that has become home for him."
