Lightning signs Scott Jackson

The Lightning signed free agent defenseman Scott Jackson to a three-year, entry-level contract.

From the team announcement:

Jackson, a 6-foot-4, 213-pound native of Salmon Arm, British Columbia, played in 58 games with the Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League last season.  He scored six goals and recorded 23 points with one power-play goal.  He ranked second among defensemen on the team in plus/minus rating with a plus-25.  His 23 points and six goals also ranked third on the team among defensemen.

The 21-year-old played the previous six seasons with the Seattle. In 326 games with the Thunderbirds, the 21-year-old scored 23 goals and recorded 119 points with 209 penalty minutes. He also appeared in 42 career playoff games, recording four goals, 17 points and 33 penalty minutes.

He was originally drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the second round, 37th overall, at the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
