Smaby sent to Norfolk
Defenseman Mat Smaby was re-assigned on Sunday to AHL Norfolk. That leaves the Lightning roster at one fewer than the 23-man roster, indicating someone might be ready to come off injured reserve. Coach Rick Tocchet said Saturday it seemed left wing Matt Pettinger (knee) is about ready to play.
Couple other notes from Sunday practice: Tocchet did not attend for personal reasons, the team said. Left wing Ryan Malone did not skate and is day to day with an upper body injury. Center Jussi Jokinen did not skate for what the team called body maintenance.
