Agent: "It's just another can of rumors"
Kent Hughes, the agent for Lightning captain Vinny Lecavalier, said his client heard about the report by Ron Fournier of CKAC radio in Montreal who said Tampa Bay might be willing to trade Lecavalier if the team encountered financial difficulties.
"I don't know where this rumor is starting," Hughes said. "We were assured they would not trade him if we agreed to extend the contract, and we haven't heard anything otherwise from them."
Lecavalier signed last summer an 11-year, $85-million extension that kicks in next season and includes a no-move clause that begins July 1.
Hughes said he spoke to Lecavalier before Friday's game.
"He gave me reason to believe it's just another can of rumors," Hughes said.
